Julianna: I guide my students towards independence because self-practice should be the goal of all serious yoga students. My classes are best suited to those students who want an understanding of yoga beyond the surface appearance of an asana (posture). I draw from various styles including vinyasa, yin and vini yogas. Linda (Ryan) Owen and Donna Farhi have been most influential in my own development. I’ve completed 200+ hours of teaching training for the Yoga Alliance Teaching Certificate. I have trained with and been certified to teach Restorative Yoga by Judith Lasater.

Ken: I encourage my students to explore their own physical structure in their practice while moving within their envelope of flexibility. I’ve studied with a wide variety of teachers but Donna Farhi has been the most influential. Students are reminded that every posture has a base and a center. Becoming aware of this the student can move towards their own center. I teach with the hope that we can come to learn our own uniqueness, kindness and compassion that is at the core of our being. Hatha Yoga is just another tool to help us on that journey. I have trained with and been certified to teach Restorative Yoga by Judith Lasater.

We continue to regularly attend workshops and training programs with a variety of teachers across the country.

Philosophically Speaking...

Hatha Yoga is one aspect of a 5000 year old system originally developed to facilitate meditation and lead to the integration (yoga = union) of the various aspects of the self.

All our bodies are unique and are vessels of wonder. At the mechanical/physical level no two individuals have the same bone structure. Why should one expect all students to move into some preconceived "body perfect" posture -- or that everyone should have the same goal in their yoga practice?

The path and practice of yoga is the real goal. The student should become familiar with and sensitized to their own unique body. Kindness and compassion reside in the very center of each and every individual. That inner voice can become our teacher.
